Getting An Account

All UNO students, faculty, and staff have access to various multi-user computer systems on campus. Student accounts are automatically created or activated with registration. Similarly, accounts for faculty and staff are automatically created when UCC receives the appropriate information from Human Resources Management.

Faculty and Staff

UNO Faculty and Staff receive the following default set of accounts:

E-mail
Local Area Network (LAN)
Modem Dial-Up Internet Access (PPP)
Blackboard
WebStar

A PeopleSoft account for faculty or staff members must be specifically requested, indicating the needed permissions.

Individuals who are under contract to work with a specific department or unit and who are otherwise not affiliated with UNO are not automatically issued computer accounts because their employment information is not entered by Human Resource Management. All appropriate accounts must be explicitly requested by the supervisor.

PeopleSoft Security Request Form :

To request PeopleSoft security complete the following Web form. When submitted, an email will be sent to peoplesoftsecurity@uno.edu.

http://www.uno.edu/securityrequest/ (UNO Network login required)

How to obtain an account:

To receive a computer account, download and print the following forms. Submit completed forms to the UCC Help Desk (CC101-R or fax 280-6348). To view or print these files, you must have the Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in, which is available HERE.

A Student's LAN username and password may be obtained by:

Visiting the web page http://useraccount.uno.edu and clicking the first link. The LAN account can also be obtained by visiting the Help Desk with a photo ID (in room 101-T in the Computer Center), or by calling the Help Desk (280-HELP)

Your username will be a maximum of eight characters in length and will consist of the first character from your first name, perhaps followed by your middle initial, followed by your last name, and in some cases, a numeric suffix to differentiate between similar names. All usernames have a maximum of eight characters.

Examples of LAN usernames:

Real Name Username Format
Jack L User Juser
John Q User Jquser
Jane S Williams Jwilliam
Jeff P Williams Jpwillia
Joan P Williamson jpwilli2

Your password will be a combination of letters and numbers, like "ABCD12EFGH." Passwords are case sensitive, meaning that it does matter if the letters are typed in upper or lower case.
